Canasta is a card game that originated in South America around 1940, and was extremely fashionable in the 50′s threatening for a while to displace contract bridge as the premier card game. We play Modern America Canasta best played with 4, 8 or 12 etc., in partnerships. Winners are the first team to achieve a score of 8500 or more points. Two 52 card packs plus 4 jokers are shuffled together to make a 108-card pack.

The game is challenging and a lot of fun to play. If you have never played or previously played, we will give you guidance. Come find out for yourself by joining our group.

The Canasta Group is currently looking for a new Activity Chair and a new venue. Look here in the future – and in the monthly Newsletter — for news on future Canasta activities.
